About

A gorgeous watercolour paint box by Reeves and Inwood Circa 1790's

To me personally Art is a truly special thing. Not only can it contain the very best that we can be but it is like love. Art like love has the ability to travel in time. It links us with the grace and beauty, all those tender emotions and exalted states of being with which we as human beings are capable of, from now and the past. All of this of course mixed with stories, dreams, imaginings, truth, belief and much more.

I am a trained Museum Conservator and have worked with many beautiful and very valuable items of the past for many years and once again the use of paints, pigments etc. come to the fore.

In putting these aspects of myself together it may come as no surprise that long ago I sought to make real tangible links with Art and the past by collecting these vintage and antique artist materials.

I have been a collector for over forty years and here and elsewhere I seek to share these wonderful things with like minded people.

Over time, more and more things of interest will be found here in separate categories to house them. I will be adding a section on antique brushes, paint and pigment and palettes both of wood and ceramics.

For now, you will find a good selection of antique artist paint boxes and I will be adding more watercolour boxes, and something for the oil painters amongst us also.

However, in the future I will be sharing my own artworks here and I hope that this humble site can become a meeting point for artists and collectors alike.
