This is a charming watercolour box from the late 19th century and was made in Paris. A truly exciting place at this time.
It’s condition is really very good.
The box is made from a very nice grade of Walnut which when made would have been rather expensive. But quality often is!You may notice that this has a line in the photos that runs across the interior of the lid. This is not a crack or split but a chord designed to hold drawings etc. This feature is often found in French boxes.
As you will see it has a full set of original paints that appear to have had little use.
It also still wears its original label with justifiable pride.
If you were considering buying this for a child it may well be a good choice as the label as you can see points out for us that these paints are not poisonous.
This is a truly lovely little box.
Approx, 19.5 x 12 x 3.5cm
It also has its original mixing trays which are ceramic. Please note that the larger 17th century artist box underneath the Borgeois box is not included.
