I doubt that there have ever been too many of these beautiful Porcelain oval palettes and for rarity this one has most beat. It’s certainly the one and only I’ve seen in 40 plus years. I’ve seen good numbers by the famous suppliers of artists materials like Winsor and Newton, Reeves and James Newman but not another by Davenport’s the famous Staffordshire Porcelain makers.

To make things even better this is one of the dated examples. The Anchor label is well known of course as there are very many collectors of items by this maker but not everyone knows that they sometimes dated their wares with numerals along with the Anchor. To my mind it gets better as this is an early example of 1836.

The condition is really very good with a few scratches from use and a little crazing from time but I have found no cracks and it’s never been broken.

So there we have it, it’s beautiful, early and by a famous maker also as useful as the day it was made.
