This charming French box was made by the famous J M Paillard who you will remember supplied paints etc to Vincent Van Gogh. 
The box has all of its original paints and most if not everything else, it is very well equipped. 
 
There are it’s ceramic circular palettes also. It opens a little like a hamper to spread its various trays quite widely making its items easily accessible. The colours here are advertised as being non poisonous so it would be lovely for a child as a gift. I am very much in favour of encouraging young people to the world of art. This modern world can be difficult to find oneself in but at least they could find themselves in the world of art. 
 
The box has had little use with just a few scratches here and there. 
Those squares with the label on are little packets of wood wool and act as cushions for everything whilst travelling around. 
 
Incidentally this would be a great box for the travelling artist as it’s not too large or heavy.
