These are a trio of genuinely early artists brushes that came originally from a watercolour paint box.
You may have seen antique brushes advertised before but brushes of this type are offered rarely. Although they came from a watercolour box is was not me that liberated them.
I would never remove items found in a box. Other people do unfortunately and I’m sure that you must at some time have seen items like paint blocks etc for sale that obviously came from a box.
I believe people do it to secure a better price by splitting up such things. It is in my opinion a disgraceful practice.
As I am a trained Museums conservator I have over my forty years of collecting been offered groups of items like these that were liberated in the past.
This group are I’m sure early Victorian and as you can see they still come to a good point and if desired could be used.
One of them is very rare in that it still has its size label in place.
They are a lovely set and would grace any collection or antique paint box.
