This is a good sized ceramic Antique palette. It possibly dates from the late 18th century. I have seen ones just like this of that age in early watercolour boxes.
It carries no name but has a stamp underneath of what I think is No1. The type of stamping is found on early palettes.
It’s condition is very good given its age and would be a perfect addition to a watercolour box or used in the studio.
It is quite heavy for its size which is good as it will not move around when you prefer it to be still during mixing.
It is strong and robust and I’d love to think of it being in use again doing what it was made to do.
I personally love to use these old things as it’s a strong link with the past and like minded people.
