This is a tube of oil paint by the Great Charles Roberson of London.
This firm was a massively influential company who made truly wonderful products ranging from large Easels and painting chests to half cakes of watercolour paint. There output obviously included oil paint boxes and as here the tubes to go in them.
There paints in these metal tubes are extremely good in my experience with a good large pigment load as are Winsor Newton and Reeves.
This paint I’m sure would work very well for you though strictly speaking they are being sold as antiques as they are beautiful and quite collectible.
That said I use such tubes and have done for a long time especially in my role as a Museum’s conservator. They are also wonderful to use in more conventional oil paintings.
This tube I believe dates to the 1930s or perhaps a little before.
Please note that this tube does have a smallish hole around the crimp. In practice this is not a problem as in use this will be by passed during the first use and the tube end folded over.
The most desirable aspect of these paints is that they have stood the test of time. Such paints adorn canvases of very many paintings in innumerable galleries.
