This is a very beautiful box that dates to around the 1870s.

It is made by the justly and very famous Reeves, one of the very early suppliers operating in London from the 18th century onwards.

It’s condition is really very good considering it’s great age. I have no doubt that it would last it’s new owner a lifetime even if put back to use immediately.

The lovely wood with which the box is made is a rich deep colour and has a calm confident glow.

Internally the gorgeous label is rich and bright. There are a few marks from paint and use etc but nothing much as you can see.

All of its paints except for one that I’m not sure about are present and many show no use whatsoever.

The box even still has its fragile but original lining paper in the front section where now two modern brushes lie. The paper does show some damage but all to often it is sadly missing.

I doubt if it is the original but a key is present and it does operate the lock which sounds very healthy.

You will also notice that it’s lovely ceramic mixing bowls are present

All in all this is a lovely thing and even if it is never used again it is a beautiful part of Victorian history to have in one’s presence.
