This is really a very nice box and much better made and in a thicker metal than their more modern ones. This is a box for the true artist who knows their subject and materials.
It was made I think in the 50s to 60s and still has with it its original card box which I’m sure has done a lot to protect it.
Indeed its outer painted surfaces are very good. Internally it is also good. Of course it shows some wear but its paint is original and good one only has to look at it!
This is one of the higher quality boxes and as such it is furnished with spring powered bars to hold the pans in place and minimise rattling.
At the time of purchase according to the box it was sold empty as is usual so the pans most of which I’m sure are the original ones to the box were chosen by the then new owner.
It was an expensive thing as the box shows its original price of 31 shillings which in the 50s was a lot of money and then 20 pans on top of that!
There are as said 20 pans most of which have much paint left in them 10 half and 10 full so you could start painting as soon as it is unpacked!
These boxes with there green labels are famed for their quality and rightly so. If looked after you might have some paint loss internally but it will I’m sure last a lifetime just as it more or less already has!
It’s a real painters box who take their art seriously.
