Antique Winsor Newton Paint Box.
This is a very fine Winsor Newton box. It’s condition is really very nice and rarely encountered in a box of this age.
It is one of the sought after green label boxes and I think dates to between 1930 and 1950. These green label boxes are especially well built. I sometimes describe them as being built like tanks which is not very far off in my opinion. They use a metal of a gauge that the modern boxes are seldom if ever made from. Certainly modern Winsor Newton boxes appear frail by comparison.
The outer paint is generally very good though I’ve wondered if maybe at some time it was repainted? If it was it was done very well.
Internally the box is all original and in good order. It has a few rust marks etc but as you can see it is very nice and clean.
It has a very good set of old and mostly unused paints made by Winsor Newton that would still work perfectly today.
This is in my opinion as a collector and seller of such items for over forty years a fine box that will if looked after last a lifetime.
